This is the Day

For Christmas last year my mother gave me a desk calendar with a bible verse for every day of the year.

Today's verse is "This is the day that the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it." Psalms 118:24

And reading that verse I can't help but think of the song. It's been running through my head all day. And the song really fits the verse. It's upbeat and bright and catchy.

It reminds me of teaching children's church. "This is the day" is an easy song for kids to learn and Jesse added motions to make it more fun for the kids. He would get faster and faster each time they repeated it until it was nearly impossible to keep up with the words and motions. The kids loved it. They always wanted to "GO FASTER!!!"
Then he would suddenly switch and do it in slow motion. His voice would drop real slow and he'd move really slowly. He's so good with kids. Being a big kid himself he knows what they like and get excited about.

Anyway, I look at this calendar periodically and sometimes the verses sit with me and are deep and meaningful. Sometimes they bounce right off my head. And sometimes they give me a little lift.

It's Friday. I'm going to party tonight and it IS the day that the Lord has made and I WILL rejoice and BE GLAD!!!

Will Spring ever stay?

I'm nearly convinced that Spring can only last 2 days in a row in Memphis before turning back into winter again. we play this game every March and April. Two days of Spring, rain, two days of winter (or at least Fall-ish). On again, off again until just when you think it might stay spring for longer than a minute - BAM! It's summer and 101 degrees outside.
I've got all these lovely spring dresses and skirt that are just dying to get out of my closet, and I never know if today is going to be a spring day or a wear a coat to work day.
